At a certain point, I decided that if I was going to keep commissioning posters, I wanted to focus on titles that had been neglected in the poster community. One glaring blind spot I noticed was that very few artists were creating alt posters for anime films and television.

I was familiar with Rosemary’s poster work at Mondo, and thought her style was well-suited for anime art. Luckily for me she was enthusiastic about the idea, so we embarked on a journey to create a poster for one of the most famous anime films of all time: Your Name.

Rosemary had this concept nailed down from the start, so my suggestions mainly dealt with color choices and the character renderings. I wanted to ensure Rosemary’s style came through, while also being confident the characters would be recognizable in the context of the anime. Petit Coeur designed a beautiful Japanese layout for the title, credits, and tagline around the English title design Rosemary and I came up with. It’s a beautiful piece showing how two people from different worlds can connect.
